This Privacy Policy explains how Kangsium ("we", "us") handles information when you use Cactus Hop (the "App"). We've tried to write this in plain language. If anything is unclear, contact us at jason@kangsium.com.
At a glance
•
No sign-up. Cactus Hop has no accounts, no login, and never asks for your name, email, phone number, or any other personal information.
•
No analytics SDK. We do not track in-app behavior, screen views, or events.
•
Local-only progress. Your best score, selected skin, sound preference, and haptics preference are stored only on your device (Android SharedPreferences). They never leave your phone.
•
Ads, by Google. The App displays ads served by Google AdMob. Google receives standard advertising identifiers and device information to show those ads. You can reset or limit ad personalization in your device's Android settings at any time.
What data we handle
Data type | Source | Purpose | Shared with | Retention |
Advertising ID, IP address (and the coarse region derived from it), device info (model, OS version, language, screen size), ad interaction events | Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | Showing ads, ad measurement, and fraud prevention | Google and Google's ad partners | Per Google's defaults — see https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads |
Sound enabled, haptics enabled, best score, selected animal skin | Local on-device storage (Android SharedPreferences) | App functionality | Not shared — stays on your device | Until you uninstall the App or tap "Reset best score" in Settings |
Note on "anonymous" identifiers: the Advertising ID and IP-derived information described above are still considered personal data under GDPR/UK DPA even though we, as the publisher, never see your name or email. We treat them accordingly.
Why we handle it
We use this data only for the purposes listed in the table above:
•
Operating the App's core features (gameplay, settings, score tracking)
•
Showing advertisements that help keep the App free
We do not sell your personal information. We do not profile users. We have no advertising profile of you on our side.
Who we share data with
Recipient | Purpose | Policy |
Google LLC (AdMob) | Serving ads, ad measurement, and fraud prevention |
Google and its certified ad partners may receive data described in the table above when the App requests an ad. We do not directly share data with any other third party.
Your data, your control
You can:
•
Reset your local data — open the App, go to Settings → Reset best score. This clears your best score and re-locks any skin tied to a score threshold.
•
Reset your Advertising ID — Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (path may vary slightly by manufacturer). You can also turn on "Delete advertising ID" so AdMob receives a string of zeros instead of an identifier.
•
Opt out of ad personalization — same Android settings location.
•
Uninstall the App — removes every byte of local data we stored on your device.
•
Email us at jason@kangsium.com with any privacy request — including requests to access, correct, or delete data, or to exercise rights under GDPR or CCPA. We will respond within 30 days.
How long we keep data
•
Local on-device data: until you uninstall or reset it. We have no copy of this data.
•
Ad-related identifiers handled by Google: per Google's defaults — see https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Where data is stored
We operate no servers and store no user data outside your device. Ad requests are handled by Google AdMob and routed to Google data centers per Google's own infrastructure decisions.
For users in the EU, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR / UK DPA)
Our legal bases for processing:
•
Legitimate interest — operating the App and basic ad delivery.
•
Consent — personalized advertising. On first launch in EEA/UK regions, the App displays a Google-provided UMP (User Messaging Platform) consent prompt. You may withdraw consent at any time through the Android ad-settings path described above; the App will then request only non-personalized ads.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal data. Contact jason@kangsium.com to exercise any of these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
International transfers between you and Google's ad infrastructure rely on Google's Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, as published by Google.
For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information is collected about you, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
Kangsium does not sell personal information. However, the use of personalized advertising via Google AdMob may qualify as "sharing" under the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). You can opt out by:
1.
Declining the in-app consent prompt (if shown in your region), or
2.
Enabling "Delete advertising ID" or limiting ad personalization in Android settings.
Children's privacy
Cactus Hop is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact jason@kangsium.com and we will work with Google to remove any associated identifiers.
Security
All in-app network requests use HTTPS/TLS. We rely on Google AdMob's transport security for the ad-related data described above. We hold no user data on our own servers.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be announced inside the App or on the listing page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document will reflect any change.
