This Privacy Policy explains how Kangsium ("we", "us") handles information when you use Memory Match (the "App"). We've tried to write this in plain language. If anything is unclear, contact us at jason@kangsium.com.
Summary
Memory Match is an offline memory game. It does not require an account, does not ask for your name, email, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or location, and does not sync any data to our servers — we don't run any. The only outbound data flow is to Google AdMob, which serves the ads that keep the App free.
What data we handle
Data type | Where it comes from | Why we (or our SDK) need it | Who else sees it | How long we keep it |
Advertising ID (GAID on Android, IDFA on iOS) | Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | Show ads, frequency-cap them, and measure ad performance | Google and its AdMob advertising partners | Per Google's AdMob retention defaults |
IP address | Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | Show ads, derive approximate (country/region-level) location for ad relevance, fraud prevention | Google and its AdMob advertising partners | Per Google's AdMob retention defaults |
Coarse device info (model, OS version, language, screen size) | Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | Render appropriately-sized ads, basic diagnostics | Google and its AdMob advertising partners | Per Google's AdMob retention defaults |
Ad interactions (impressions, clicks) | Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) | Measure ad performance, prevent invalid clicks | Google and its AdMob advertising partners | Per Google's AdMob retention defaults |
Game settings (sound on/off, haptics on/off, emoji theme) | Stored locally on your device by shared_preferences | Remember your preferences between sessions | Nobody — stays on your device | Until you uninstall the App or clear app data |
Best scores per difficulty | Stored locally on your device by shared_preferences | Show your personal best on the home screen | Nobody — stays on your device | Until you uninstall the App or clear app data |
We do not collect: your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone audio, camera, precise location, health data, or payment information. We do not sell your personal information.
Why we handle this data
•
App functionality — saving your settings and best scores on your device.
•
Advertising — Google AdMob shows ads (banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads) so the App can remain free. AdMob's processing of the data above is what makes ads possible.
Who we share data with
•
Google LLC (AdMob) — the only third party that receives data from the App. Google operates under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. AdMob-specific advertising practices: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
We do not share data with any other third parties. We do not operate our own servers, databases, or analytics pipelines.
Consent for advertising (EU/UK/EEA)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App shows Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form on first launch. Your choices there control whether AdMob may use the data above for personalized advertising. You can change your choice later from your device's ad settings.
Your data, your control
You can:
•
See your local data — your game settings and best scores are stored on your device only. There's no server copy.
•
Delete your local data — open the App's Settings screen and tap Reset best scores, or uninstall the App (or use your OS's "Clear app data" option), which removes everything the App has stored.
•
Reset your advertising ID — use your device's privacy settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads; iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking / Apple Advertising).
•
Request information about or deletion of AdMob-held data — email us at jason@kangsium.com and we will pass the request to Google, or you can contact Google directly through the privacy links above.
For requests we handle directly, we will respond within 30 days.
Where data is stored
•
On your device — all preferences and best scores.
•
Google's infrastructure — anything sent to AdMob is processed and stored by Google globally, primarily in the United States and other regions where Google operates data centers.
For users in the EU, UK, or Switzerland (GDPR / UK DPA)
Our legal basis for processing is:
•
Legitimate interest for the core ad-serving operations needed to run a free, ad-supported game (frequency-capping, fraud prevention, contextual ads).
•
Consent, collected via the in-app UMP prompt, for any personalized advertising and for any non-essential processing that Google's ad partners may perform.
You have the right to: access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and to object. To exercise these rights, email jason@kangsium.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
Because Google Cloud and AdMob operate globally, data may be transferred to the United States and other countries. Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable; see Google's transfer disclosures for details.
For California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct inaccuracies, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We do not sell personal information for money. The CCPA defines "sharing" broadly enough that AdMob's personalized-ad behavior may count; if you do not want personalized ads, decline the UMP consent prompt, or limit ad tracking through your device's settings. We will treat that as a valid opt-out of "sharing" under the CCPA.
Children's privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and AdMob in this App is not configured for the "Designed for Families" / child-directed treatment. If you believe a child has used the App and that personal information has been collected, contact jason@kangsium.com and we will work with Google to delete the relevant data.
Security
Data sent to AdMob travels over HTTPS/TLS as implemented by the Google Mobile Ads SDK. Local data on your device is protected by your OS's app sandboxing.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the App. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any change. Because the App has no account system, we cannot email you about updates — please check back here from time to time.
